Antique Afghani silver earrings

Antique Afghani silver earrings
A pair of extremely rare, antique, intricately granulated Afghani earrings or hair pendants, found in Peshawar, Pakistan. Due to their weight, these earrings would not necessarily hang only through the ear lobes. They may also be hang through an ornamental head dress, which would be able to better support the weight of the earrings from the head. Peshawar lies on the Pakistani border with Afghanistan and was, historically, of strategic importance due to its location at the entrance of the Khyber Pass. Due to the current circumstances in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Peshawar is, for the foreseeable future, virtually off limits to westerners, especially women. Any items which I have gathered from this region in 1993 therefore hold special value.
