Antique Sudanese silver bracelet

A large silver armlet decorated with repousse work from the Rashaida nomads of Eastern Sudan. Rashaida women acquire large quantities of elaborate jewellery as indicators of their status and wealth. The diverse filegree and granulated designs of the jewellery are influenced by styles from Arabia where these nomads originated and are highly valued.
