Bracelet, Clay and pewter / brass toggle bracelet, black/cream/brown

This stunning bracelet is made using handmade clay tusk beads from Lesotho, which is a mountainous kingdom within the borders of South Africa. Lesotho has a large rural population and one of the highest rates of HIV/AIDS in Africa due to the high proportion of men who leave their homes to become migrant workers in South Africa. The labour - intensive production required for these clay beads creates much needed work, and supports female heads of households and families living with HIV/AIDS . The bracelet also comprises hand cast pewter or brass toggles and clasp from a small independent workshop in Cape Town.
